A. LANGE & SOHNE

A. LANGE & SOHNE

The Dresden watchmaker Ferdinand A. Lange laid the foundation for the Saxon fine watchmaking business when he established his watch manufactory in 1845. His superior pocket-watches are still in great demand among collectors all over the world. After the Second World War, the enterprise was expropriated and the name of A. Lange & Söhne was almost forgotten. In 1990, Walter Lange, the great-grandson of Ferdinand A. Lange, took the risk of starting up the business anew. Today, Lange produces just a few thousand wristwatches every year, made of gold or platinum. They are powered exclusively by watch movements developed in-house, expensively decorated and assembled by hand. With 49 manufactory calibres, A. Lange & Söhne has attained a leading position among the world’s best watch brands in little more than 20 years. The firm’s greatest achievements include innovative timepieces such as the LANGE 1, with the first large date in a series-produced wristwatch, and the LANGE ZEITWERK, with a high-precision jumping numerical display of exemplary clarity. Meanwhile, both models have become icons representative of the brand’s rich tradition.
